Judging from what we see in just about every supermarket and drug store, you would think getting a brighter, whiter smile is as easy as grabbing that new flashy-looking toothpaste or buying one of those “100 percent guaranteed” whitening kits you see on the shelves next to dozens of other similar products that promise amazing results. But the truth is that most of these products deliver very little and can end up costing lots of money and, in some cases, harming your oral health.
This is why it’s always wise to rely on a professional when trying to whiten your smile. You need someone who understands your smile and knows what it needs to look its best. Here at West Suburban Oral Health Care, Drs. Susan Mazzei, Kelsey Esposito, and Ashley Nguyen know a thing or two about getting whiter teeth and can help your smile be all it can be!
Many of us have horror stories about relying on an amateur to do a job that’s best left to professionals. For example, you may pay an unlicensed repairman to fix your kitchen sink only to call a professional after they create a bigger problem.
This holds especially true when it comes to tooth whitening. Most of the over-the-counter kits don’t have the strength or ingredients needed to improve the whitening of your teeth. Instead, they rely on marginal results and lure you in, promising better results over time. Meanwhile, these products could also harm your oral health.
When you visit our office, you’ll experience the dramatic difference between professional tooth whitening and what you get in stores. Our in-office bleaching treatment uses a special UV light to activate the professional-grade hydrogen peroxide gel. Our doctors may adjust the concentration based on your needs.
However, we should mention how certain habits, such as drinking soda, tea, coffee, red wine, and smoking, can lead to long-lasting tooth stains that are difficult to remove. Depending on the severity of your stains, achieving the sparkling white smile you envisioned may not be possible. But don’t worry, in such cases, we can offer other treatments.
If you can’t make it to the office or wish to whiten your teeth at your own pace and convenience, we offer a safe and effective at-home whitening treatment using a custom-built tray and a lower concentration of high-quality gel. Using this system, you can brighten your smile gradually over just a few weeks. While in-house whitening works on the same day, our at-home kits take longer. Many of our patients schedule one in-office teeth whitening treatment followed by our at-house treatments for the best-sustained results.
To find out the real difference professional whitening can have on your smile, call West Suburban Oral Health Care at 630-393-3045 to arrange your consultation with one of our incredible dental professionals. Don’t wait. A brighter, healthier smile can be in your immediate future.
