Are you considering or actively looking for the perfect porcelain veneers in Naperville, Illinois? People love porcelain veneers because they can truly transform a smile into something amazing. But it’s important to have some information before making such an important decision. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about porcelain veneers.
Veneers are shells of material placed onto the surface of your teeth. They serve a primary cosmetic purpose, as they can restore and even improve the look of your natural smile. You can have a veneer placed on one or more teeth and use them to deal with things like staining, discoloration, and damaged teeth.
However, veneers aren’t all the same. They can consist of different materials, and various techniques exist for applying them. The more common type of veneer consists of composite resin materials. Porcelain isn’t like composite resin materials and improves on some potential shortcomings of these materials. In addition, porcelain veneers have some unique attributes that make them the superior choice for many people.
The main benefit stems from the ability of porcelain veneers to transform your smile dramatically. However, they provide more benefits as well.
Porcelain looks natural and mimics your natural tooth. Also, these veneers can fit perfectly over your natural teeth so that they become indistinguishable from your other teeth. Porcelain veneers will look natural in color, shape, and size.
Porcelain veneers have excellent stain resistance and durability. The porcelain material resists staining, and it can also stand up to bite forces that would chip or crack the veneers.
Porcelain veneers can last for a long time. Along with durability comes longevity. If you take proper care of your porcelain veneers, they can last you for over a decade.
Porcelain veneers minimize invasiveness. Before applying veneers, your dentist must remove some of your natural enamel.
Porcelain veneers can help fix many dental issues while giving you your best smile.
Yes, porcelain veneers can do wonders for a smile, but they’re not for everyone. Some situations where a dentist may not recommend porcelain veneers include:
These considerations will occur on a case-by-case basis. Ineligibility now doesn’t always mean ineligibility in the future.
Also, there’s no substitution for scheduling a consultation and speaking with a professional about what you can do to improve your smile. Even if it’s not the porcelain veneer you wanted, your dentist may have a solution that works just as well for you.
